Bruce Willis was born in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany on March 19, 1955. His mother was Marlene and was a German, and his father was an American soldier. Willis is the oldest of 4 children: sister Florence, bother Robert and a brother David. Robert died in 2001 due to pancreatic cancer. After being dismissed from military in 1957, Willis’s father David Willis took his family to New Jersey. Willis enrolled in Penns Grove High School, where he faced problems with a stammer. His schoolmates nicknamed him Buck-Buck. Finding it much easier to express himself on the stage and losing his stammer in the middle, Willis started giving stage performances. His school activities were marked by student council president. After schooling, Willis served as a security guard at the Salem Nuclear Power Point and transported workers at the DuPont Chambers Works factory in New Jersey. After being served as a private investigator, Willis branched out in acting. He attended Montclair State University in the drama program. There he was featured in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof production. Bruce Willis left school in his 1st year and moved to New York.
After giving numerous auditions, Willis released his theatrical debut Heaven and Earth in 1993. He earned more exposure and popularity in Fool for Love. Willis is also featured in the lead role for 4 years in the Off-Broadway production of director Dennis Wallington Bullpen.
